Anthony Elanga’s worrying statistics could suggest January loan

Anthony Martial’s injury and Anthony’s delayed signing have given Anthony Elanga the chance to play in five of United’s seven games this season.

After a full pre-season, the 20-year-old is expected to be able to move on after dazzling under Ralf Rangnick last season.

But as the stats point out, Erlanga’s performance was disappointing.

In terms of attacking stats, Elanga has just one assist and zero goals in five games.

He averaged just over one shot every two games and only managed one shot on target all season.

Erlanga also missed two big chances.

Passing stats are also frustrating, especially assists. In five games, Elanga failed to make any accurate crosses. He’s only 2 for 4 on long balls and he’s only completed 73% of his passes in his own half.

The winger only managed to complete 25% of his dribbles and he lost 6.2 possessions.

Obviously, with a fully fit team at his disposal, Eric Ten Haag might not continue to pick Elanga as regularly. Anthony is likely to be the first choice on the right, while Jadon Sancho is on the left, and Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Cristiano Ronaldo can all be looked to flanks in the middle.

However, there is an opinion that based on these stats, players like Alejandro Ganacho might have a chance ahead of Elanga if reinforcements are needed.

Of course, all footballers suffer from poor form from time to time, and a poor five-game run is no reason to knock out an academy graduate who looks set to have a bright future.

However, unless something changes ahead of the World Cup, the Swede could be considered for a loan move in January as he looks to move on from this turning point in his career.
