Asamoah Gyan should be sent to the World Cup to be encouraged rather than executed, according to Tema Youth boss Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer.

Asamoah Gyan has told the BBC that he has to compete in the World Cup (BBC).

The 36-year-old has been out of the squad since being launched by Legon Cities at the end of the 2020/21 season.

In the Qatar group stage, Ghana could face Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal.

Osei Kwaku Palmer says Asamoah Gyan could be sent as a legend to cheer on players but not for the World Cup.

“I would inform Gyan to allow us to do our business or he should be cheering because he is a legend and that is what we have been missing in a lot of games.

“I’ve been in a lot of competitions (AFCON, World Cup) and what different countries do is they create their own legends and they get special status because when the competition gets strong they’re there with their expertise to help, but we are not celebrating our legend, which is totally concerning,” he added.
