Brighton plan Moises Caicedo contract talks with Manchester United circling

During United’s dismal performance last season, caretaker boss Ralph Rangnick stressed that the club will need significant investment and up to 10 new players to be competitive again.

New manager Eric Ten Haag was disappointed with the club’s initially lackluster business, but in the end the club managed to get six players through the door.

One of the priorities is to have a playable midfielder who can launch the attack and control the tempo. A number of midfielders have been linked with Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

Manchester United need a midfielder

Ten Haag’s first choice was Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong but factors such as salary delays, the player’s reluctance to leave his ‘dream club’ meant the deal would not be available despite the two clubs have agreed on fees. The deal never materialized.

Moises Caicedo’s name has been linked to the vacant midfield role following Manchester United’s day one humiliation by Brighton, with reports United are in talks with the player’s entourage.

But in the end, the Red Devils ended up getting Casemiro from Real Madrid, who has started one game so far and made three substitute appearances as he tries to follow the life of a Premier League player.

Brighton know their Ecuadorian star is interested in Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Graham Potter’s Chelsea, who all want his services next summer.

and according to Mirror“Brighton are ready to sit down to discuss a new contract for midfielder Moises Caicedo as several clubs have expressed interest in taking him on this summer.

“The Seagulls will now look to reward the progress he has made this year and offer a package to bring his salary closer to other first-team regulars.”

This is despite the 20-year-old’s current deal being ‘almost three years away’.

Caicedo is now a PL star

Back in the January 2021 transfer window, Brighton manager Porter has approved a deal for the independent youngster from Del Valle, who is now a first-team star.

Porter also spoke about the interest in the Ecuador international, mentioning he could only leave Amex for £100m.

“‘In football you never know, but we’re very calm and confident. £100m? They can try. It doesn’t surprise me that people follow him because he’s doing so well,’ said the British manager, quoted by Say.

The Red Devils were lucky enough to sign him for as little as £4.5million but ultimately opted out of the deal which sent Brighton rushing.

Caicedo himself is a self-proclaimed Manchester United fan, and his actions will please him. But it remains to be seen if the Seagulls are ready to part ways with him and if the Ten Witches want him on long-term target De Jong.
