Dan James’ Leeds United career could be over after deadline day move to Fulham

Dan James ended his loan spell at Fulham just before the deadline, raising doubts over his long-term future at Leeds United.

Boot room Journalist Dean Jones believes a move to a Premier League rival could spell the end of James and Leeds United, according to the report.

“Everything indicates that he is what he is now. They’re not going to loan him out to another Premier League club, which is basically some sort of league position opponent, and bring him back,” Jones said.

James moved from Manchester United to Leeds for £25million last summer. He remains the only player United have sold for a profit since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club.

The Welshman went on to make 40 appearances for the Yorkshire club, scoring four goals. James put in a strong individual performance last season and Leeds need a final day win to stay in the Premier League.

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsh approves the move to Fulham, explaining “soccer decision“, which implies that the Americans do not see James as part of a future plan.

Solskjaer signed James from Swansea in the summer of 2019, for which Manchester United paid a transfer fee of $16million.

James played 74 times for Manchester United, scoring 9 goals.

James will provide Marco Silva with a good attacking option, and his frontline versatility is essential for the modern striker. During his time at United, his quick pace on the counter-attack was sometimes a weapon used to devastating effect.

A career highlight for James United was his role in a fantastic team performance at Manchester City in December 2019. United tore their neighbors to shreds on the counter to win 2-1 with James the man of the match.

James has also proven he can play at international level, with five goals and 34 appearances to his name.

Although that was not enough to take United to the next level, James left the club with his head held high. You can never fault the winger for not giving it his all and delivering a quality flash.

James is looking to impress Fulham who have started the season well and are currently in the middle of the pack.
