sergeant. Moses Pereira said Roderick Dixon, 39, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery over the age of 60, and assault and battery with the injured over the age of 60.

Police attended the New World gas station on Milliken Boulevard around 7 p.m. after receiving a call that an elderly couple had been assaulted.

A 68-year-old woman from Fall River told police at the scene that she and her husband were attacked at the train station, Pereira said. She explained that her husband, Jose Andrade, 66, asked a woman who was parked at a gas station in front of them to come forward so they could charge their car.

Dixon then approached Andrade and began arguing with him. The argument escalated, and then Dixon punched Andrade in the face, pushing his wife to the ground.

Witnesses told investigators that Dixon kicked Andrade as he fell to the ground.

Both were taken to St Anne’s Hospital for evaluation.

Police arrested Dixon and questioned him at the police station. He told them that Andrade had hit him twice in the face, which is why he had hit him.

Andrade also faces assault and battery charges, the department said.
