Heavy downpours brought over 7 inches of rain to southern New England, primarily Providence County. During the night tonight we will pass an area of fairly intense rain which will add to these already high totals. Commuting on Tuesday mornings can be tricky with flooding in towns and even small rivers and streams. Light flooding occurred on the Woonasquatucket River on the Johnston/North Providence line.
Occasional rounds of heavy rain will continue on Tuesday, and we can add another 1-2 inches to the already impressive total. The rain will ease Tuesday evening and we will return with dry weather on Wednesday. Once the sun returns, it will continue next weekend.
