Lisandro Martinez stuns against Real Sociedad despite conceding penalty

United lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad in Eric Ten Haag’s first European game as Old Trafford manager.

In the 59th minute, Los Turri-Urding took the lead after being awarded a penalty by the referee.

Many fans would find the decision harsh, with the referee judging that Lisandro Martinez handled the ball inside the penalty area.

The defender slipped and blocked David Silva’s shot, which bounced off his knee and hit his forearm. VAR confirmed the disgraceful decision on the spot.

Beyond that, however, Martinez had a great game. The 24-year-old replaced Diogo Dalot in the second half, injecting some much-needed aggression and physicality at the back.

Martinez won an incredible 100% of his tackles.

The guard also managed to complete 100% of his dribbles and won every matchup.

The former Ajax star has 52 touches.

He managed 34 assists, including a crucial key pass.

Martinez had three major tackles and two interceptions in 45 minutes on the court.

The Argentina international seems to be getting better and better and Manchester United fans are heartened that he doesn’t seem to be at his peak yet.

He showed mental toughness again, recovered well after conceding and kept the back line in check.
