Lovington bull rider becomes world champion – Brospar Daily News

A bull rider from New Mexico has been recognized at just 9 years old after becoming world champion. Park Hooks of Lovington recently won the Junior Bull Riders World Finals. But his desire to ride a bull started when he was very young. “My Mimi and my dad, they were my grandparents, they took me to a fair in Lee County, I watched bull riding and I loved it. I wanted to do it, but I couldn’t because I’m still small,” Hooks said. But he didn’t let his size stop him. “I watched a video on YouTube and then one day they let me ride at the sheep fair here,” Hooks said. Then he started riding the calf, earning himself the world champion title and a special clasp. “I love rodeo, it’s a different sport. everyone is nice to you. No matter what skin color you are, they’re just nice to you,” Hooks said of his goal to one day be a professional bull rider.

But his desire to ride a bull started when he was very young.

“My Mimi and my dad, they were my grandparents, they took me to the Lee County Fair here, and I watched the bull ride and I loved it. I wanted to do it, but I couldn’t because I’m still small,” Hooks said.

But he didn’t let his size stop him.

“I watched a YouTube video and one day they let me ride sheep at the fair,” Hooks said.

He then began to climb the calf, earning himself the title of world champion and a special clasp.

“I love rodeo, it’s a different sport. Everyone is nice to you. It doesn’t matter what skin color you are, they’re just nice to you,” Hooks said.

His goal is to one day become a professional bull rider.
