Military members, first responders honor lives lost on 9/11 – Brospar Daily News

Citizens gathered in Bellevue’s American Heroes Park Sunday afternoon to commemorate the anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The Kiwanis Club of Bellevue sponsored the event. It includes the full raising of the flag, the ceremony of 13 flags and the laying of wreaths by military leaders and first responders. “It makes me even prouder to see all these people come out to honor those who gave their lives,” said Air Force veteran Bill Dreyfus. During the event, speakers read the names of each state in Nebraska and Iowa killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. “This ceremony is not just for the 168 service members who gave their lives in Nebraska and Iowa,” Dreyfus said. “It’s also about the thousands of people who gave their lives on 9/11.” The organizers hold the event every year on the anniversary of the attacks and will continue to do so.
