ORANGEBURG, SC (WOLO) – The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a duo charged with various crimes in North Carolina. Authorities said they were able to obtain information about two men who were driving a black Volkswagen Jetta in Palmetto State and who were wanted for kidnapping, crimes with weapons and attempted murder. As they drove across the state, a South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement (SLED) officer said they were able to obtain information about the two men’s possible whereabouts.
After checking hotels along Highway 601, authorities found the same make and model of car they were looking for. Officials said they saw Dmartez Evans, 48, put a school bag and a laundry basket in the car while watching the car during the surveillance period. When authorities were able to confirm the warrant for Evans to leave Fayetteville, North Carolina special operators moved the arrested Evans to the scene without incident.
A woman identified as Tia Franseca was with Evans during the arrest and authorities say she was in possession of a large amount of marijuana, SLED officers said. Drugs and two cell phone detectives said the drugs they seized from Evans served as evidence, while Evans and Franceca were led away in handcuffs. Evans and Franceca were taken to the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
