On the outside, be sure to grab the cardigan jacket jacket. Okay, class is over, but please put down those pencils and get ready for rock school. Rock is the Eagles’ main stage at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Steven Sander is talking about dramas based on iconic films here. He is the director of the show. Steven, thank you very much for inviting us this morning. I am very happy to be here. Right, that’s it. So it’s a conspiracy that many of us know about, but who may not know. Give us a little refreshment. Yes. The musical “School of Rock” is based on the early 2000s film starring Jack Black. Yes. He was followed by Dewey Finn, a little disappointed in his lucky rock star. He is in the group. He was expelled. He is at home with his roommate. He answers the phone. When he decides, he should go to school instead of teaching. Well, I need a job. I will do it. He didn’t know anything about teaching sociology or math, but he did know how to teach rock and roll, and he developed an incredible relationship with those students through music, who then played in the band battle. Yes. So this show has a lot of heart, just like the movie. So what are some great takeaways for people to walk away from after the show? Well, really, I want families to come to this show, we have 14 kids on this show, and they’re doing things they’re singing, dancing, and even playing rock instruments live on stage. So I really hope that families will come and be inspired to maybe learn an instrument or take an acting or singing class and get known and involved in the arts. Are you saying this is a relatively new game and the first time it’s coming to Omaha? Yes, this is the first of the local production of New Music for School of Rock, written by ANDREW Lloyd WEBBER. Of course, we know his amazing music like Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom, The Phantom of the Opera. But the songs from the film are also on stage. Never mind. It is very good. So people will be able to hear something new, but also have that iconic film in mind. Absolutely. There will be too. OK Well, familiar music. But also, what is the difference between a series where the director is mainly made up of adults and an actor with 14 children as you said? Yes. Well, it took a little more patience, but we had fun. What’s really interesting about this show is that the kids do about 90% of the show on stage, they work hard. So it’s just an incredible rehearsal process where they really want to throw anything at them and ask them to do it. Sometimes I feel like the amount of work we ask them to do on this show, if we ask adults to do it, they’ll say, we can’t do it. But the kids are frustrated, they’re excited, they’re ready. So you would say it is more suitable for adults and more suitable for children. Both are very few. I think it’s totally a family musical. I think people who grew up in movies love it because they see those iconic moments and those iconic lines where you do amazing things as you get older. surprising. So where can we go?
