Study says this Texas city is one of the worst cities to retire in the country

DALLAS (KDAF) — In our lifetime, we will put in thousands of hours of work, hoping to retire one day. That’s why it’s wise to plan your retirement early so you don’t lose those years.

One of the most important things to consider when retiring is your location. That’s why WalletHub has released a new Report Discover the best and worst cities in the country for retirement.

They looked at more than 180 US cities and analyzed them on 46 different metrics, including cost of living, retiree friendliness, and state healthcare infrastructure.

Unfortunately for Texans, a city in Texas has been named one of the best cities to retire in, and that’s exactly what Lubbock, TX. The Texas city was ranked 173 out of 182 cities with:

  • Wichita, KS – 174
  • Baltimore, MD – 175
  • Vancouver, Washington – 176
  • Detroit, Michigan – 177
  • Stockton, CA – 178
  • Rancho Cucamonga, CA – 179
  • San Bernardino, CA – 180
  • Newark, New Jersey – 181
  • Bridgeport, Conn. – 182

According to the study, the best cities for retirement are:

  1. Charleston, South Carolina
  2. Orlando Florida
  3. Cincinnati, Ohio
  4. Miami, Florida
  5. Fort Lauderdale, Florida
  6. San Francisco, California
  7. Scottsdale, AZ
  8. Wilmington, Delaware
  9. Tampa, Florida
  10. Salt Lake City, UT
