North Wilkesboro, North Carolina – One of North Carolina’s most famous race tracks will host the 2023 NASCAR All-Star race.
On Thursday, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Governor Roy Cooper, NASCAR officials and Speedway Motorsports announced plans for a week-long racing event in North Wilkesboro to celebrate in conjunction with the All-Star Game in May 2023. tickets will go on sale later this fall.
“Motorsport is vital to North Carolina’s history, culture and economy, and our investments are helping the engine run again where it needs to be revived,” Governor Roy Cooper said. “North Wilkesboro Raceway is back and better than ever, and the All-Star Game will take it to new heights.”
Earlier this summer, The track brings racing back for the first time Over more than a decade, he gave a huge boost to the development of the sport in the region.
Last month, a large crowd gathered to watch Dale Earnhardt Jr. compete in the CARS Tour Late Model Stock, a highly anticipated and prestigious event in the western North Carolina community. North Wilkesboro hosted the Racetrack Revival on August 2-3.

In May, Cooper visited the track with Speedway Motorsports President and CEO Marcus Smith, NASCAR Hall of Fame team owner Richard Childress and legendary NASCAR driver Harry Gant.
The US Rescue Program allocated $18 million through the state budget to improve the runway infrastructure.
“The NASCAR All-Star Game has always been a game for the fans, and during NASCAR’s 75th anniversary, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the fans than by returning to North Wilkesboro Speedway,” Marcus said. The highway was a dirt road when it opened in 1947. The track had an oval layout of 0.625 miles and hosted hundreds of Winston Cup Series races until it closed in 1996.
The All-Star Game was held at Charlotte Motor Speedway from 1987 to 2019.
